Para Aramid Felt is made from 100 percent para-aramid synthetic fibers designed to protect against cuts, abrasion, and heat. The material's inherent strength comes from its ring-like molecular structure and the tight knitting of the fibers. This allows para-aramid felt to withstand a maximum temperature of 600 degrees fahrenheit. It is commonly used to make protective gloves, sports equipment, lumberjack chaps, and is also found in some musical instruments and audio equipment.
Features:
High Strength and High Modulus:
Para-aramid fibers have a strength more than five times greater than steel, yet they are very lightweight. As a result, para-aramid felt exhibits excellent tensile strength and toughness.
High Temperature Resistance:
Para-aramid fibers have outstanding heat resistance, typically able to withstand temperatures as high as 400°C, and some varieties can endure even higher temperatures. This makes para-aramid felt particularly suitable for high-temperature environments.
Chemical Resistance:
Para-aramid felt is highly resistant to most chemicals such as acids, alkalis, and solvents.
Lightweight and Abrasion-Resistant:
Despite its high strength, para-aramid felt is lightweight, which makes it ideal for applications that require both strength and weight reduction. It also has excellent abrasion resistance.
Excellent Electrical Insulation:
Para-aramid felt has good electrical insulation properties, making it suitable for use in electrical equipment as an insulating material.
Application:
High-Temperature Insulation Materials:
Para-aramid felt is widely used in high-temperature environments, such as industrial boilers, automotive brake systems, rocket engines, and more, for thermal insulation, heat protection, and high-temperature resistance.
Protective Clothing and Bulletproof Materials:
Due to its high tensile strength and heat resistance, para-aramid felt is commonly used in the manufacture of bulletproof vests, stab-resistant gloves, and other protective gear.
Automotive Industry:
In the automotive industry, para-aramid felt is used in brake systems, clutches, and transmission systems as friction materials due to its excellent wear resistance and thermal stability.
Electronics Industry:
Para-aramid felt is used as an electrical insulating material, such as in transformer insulation layers and cable sheaths, especially in high-temperature or high-strength environments.
Aerospace Industry:
Para-aramid felt is used in the aerospace industry as reinforcement in composite materials or for high-temperature insulation and protection.
